A Simple Woman's Daybook 12~9~14

Since my blog is starting to take shape (hopefully I'll soon learn how to add those cute badges and personalized gadgets I once decorated my wordpress blog with), I thought it'd be fun to update with a real post.

Long, long ago I used to take part in A Simple Woman's Daybook.  I updated everyday Tuesday and really enjoyed reading other blogggers post answers to the same weekly questions.  I found a few blogs to follow via the daybook link, and I also treasured the fact that Tuesday was one day I didn't have to stress over having something insightful and/or witty to post about.  I was able to just enjoy answering some lovely questions, posting, and then reading what others shared.  All this goodness with some maple coffee too!

Also, Tuesdays happen to be a day of the week that I really look forward to.  This day of the week Farmer comes home to pamper me by taking care of dinner and clean up, family and farm life, and quietly putting all to bed at the end of the day.  I can do as I'd like (however money and time dictates!!) ~  take a long, candle-lit bubble bath, join my family for dinner, or meet up with a friend, or even enjoy a quiet simple meal alone (and I do enjoy this at times), perhaps I eat something on the go while on my way to an antique shop (I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE antiquing), or I dream of taking that first sip of hot coffee as I drive down country roads toward the 'big city' and the bookstore.  A favorite though is to simply hang out with my family as usual, being in the kitchen with Farmer while he prepares our meal discussing our day and life, or spending time with one or both of my daughters and just being ... not teaching, learning, disciplining ... just loving our time together and each other.

Anyway, you can see why Tuesdays are special to me.  I love 'em!  And here it is Tuesday again - YAY!!  I think it is time to start up an old tradition again ... especially as I don't have to worry about what's for dinner this evening!

For Today ~ Tuesday, December 9, 2014

Outside my window ...  it is cloudy and windy.  If there was snow coming down, it'd be the perfect winter day!

I am thankful ... for a warm cozy home, silly preteen girls, our pets, and especially a husband who continues to strive to follow God and lead our family.

I am thinking ...  of the answer I just typed for thankful.  Truly, Farmer carries a lot of burdens for the girls and I.  I feel the need to discuss this with them and be sure we are coming up with ways to show Farmer/Dad how much we love and appreciate him.

I am creating ...  I used to always post a peaceful or Christ centered home for my answer, and that is still true now.  However, I realize that goal will automatically come from me working on my heart, so my answer going forward will be ... a heart that desires to obey and following Him in all I do.

I am wearing ... dark sweats with shimmering pink lines down the side, light gray sweatshirt and socks.  And my glasses.  I have a headache and contacts can be bothersome on days with headaches.

I am going ... to snuggle in with my Barrel Racer, who also feels a bit puny.  I see a quick nap between the two of us!

I am wondering ... if we'll decorate for Christmas this year.  Over these last few years we have done a lot of pulling back from what the world tells us Christmas should be like or about.  We've had a busy last few weeks and all I have accomplished is getting a tree in ... and I did that two weeks before Thanksgiving!  LOL!  Yep, plugged it in and all.  We are still buying the real tree to plant after Christmas as we did last year for our first Christmas on the farm, and that will happen this weekend.  Still, I'm struggling over decorations.  I'm discouraged we can't seem to get our act together and get things unpacked/organized.  Come February it will be two years here ... * sigh*   This just isn't like me.

I am reading ... KJ Bible, Job specifically.  The girls and I are doing an in depth study.

I am hoping ... praying ... for some family members, personal immediate family situations, and a white Christmas!  We need some snow!!

I am looking forward to ...  this Friday as we are going to Christmas Town at the Creation Museum!

I am learning ... that if I ever stop learning, I'm dead.  :)

Around our home ... I am listening to Hunter-Jumper type on her computer, Christmas carols are softly playing, and there is a fire going in the fireplace in both the kitchen and living room.  I love fires and lit candles.  I think I may light all my candles as well now!

In the kitchen ... a fire is burning, a few dishes need to be taken care of from lunch yet, but that's it.  It's Tuesday and this means Farmer is worrying about dinner ... yay, yay, yay!  See that kettle in the pic at the top of my blog?  It is hanging in the fireplace in our kitchen.  I'm thinking I'll add some water and cinnamon sticks to it!  Mmm ...

I am pondering ... lessons plans for our homeschool in 2015!

A favorite quote for today ...  Don't wait for the perfect moment, take the moment and make it perfect!

Scripture ...  Joshua 1:9 - Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God [is] with thee whithersoever thou goest.

One of my favorite things ... ha, since I already mentioned crackling fires and lit candles, I'll answer being in the barn with the horses and a fresh cup of coffee when the sun has just come up on a summer morning!  It is the best!!

A few plans for this week ... I need to get to the grocery store, start wrapping Barrel Racer and Hunter-Jumper's gifts, and I really would like to have our kitchen and dining-room look like this again from last year:

A picture to share ...  I really enjoy this picture.  I just wish it were primitive snowmen instead of vintage santas (we don't do santa ... )

  5. LOL ... if you can feel the peace & love, then I'm doing a fantastic job of glossing over the chaos in my posts!! Seriously, thank you, M! I'm happy to be participating again in TSWDB ... I love reading others' answers and during some of my disappearances I too feel like I'm missing out. Thank you for taking the time to come 'visit' and for always being such a dear friend and sister-in-Christ.
